   Make sure everyone is safe

   Move out of traffic if you can. Turn on hazards. Check yourself and passengers for injuries. Call 911 immediately for any serious injury.

   Call the police

   Even for fender-benders, a police report makes everything that follows easier. Wait for an officer if there's any disagreement about what happened.

3. 3

   Exchange information

   Names, phone numbers, addresses, license plates, insurance company, policy number. Don't admit fault, just trade facts.

   Take photos

   All vehicles, all damage, the scene, road conditions, license plates, and the other driver's insurance card. More is better. They're free and they often save the claim.

   File with your carrier

   You can call us during business hours and we'll walk you through it. After hours, call your carrier directly using the directory below, most have 24/7 claim hotlines.

   Loop us in when the office opens

   We'll follow up with the carrier on your behalf, push for fair handling, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. We're your advocate, not theirs.

Before you file

Should I call you first or my carrier?

If we're open (Mon-Fri 9-5 CST), call us first, we'll start the claim with you and follow up with the carrier. After hours or on weekends, call your carrier directly so the clock starts; then loop us in next business day.

Will my rates go up if I file a claim?

It depends on the carrier, the type of claim, and whether you're at fault. Comprehensive claims (theft, weather, glass) typically don't affect rates. Collision claims usually do. We'll look at your specific situation before you file if you're not sure it's worth it.

What if I disagree with how the carrier is handling it?

Call us. We're independent, we work for you, not the carrier. We can escalate, request a different adjuster, or help you push back on a low offer.
