The Kansas City insurance agency that works for you, not the carrier.
Independent. Local. Honest about the fine print.
A letter from PolicyNest KC
Insurance is less of a money problem than a literacy problem. Most people know their premium, maybe their deductible, and that's about it. The rest sits in twenty pages of language nobody is expected to read until something goes wrong, and by then it's too late to change anything.
That's the gap we built PolicyNest KC to fill.
There's a lot of noise in this industry. Online quote engines pitch speed. The captive agents at the big household-name companies pitch the brand on the sign. The trouble with that captive model is the agent works for a single carrier and can't really advocate for you when things go sideways. If that one carrier is slow-walking your claim or hiking your renewal for no good reason, they can't move you somewhere better. They can only sell you what's on their shelf.
We're built differently. We're independent, which means we represent you, not a carrier. We have a couple dozen carriers we can place business with, spanning personal lines, commercial, and life, and we add more as we grow. If the carrier we placed you with stops treating you right, we move you. If a quote in front of you has endorsements you don't need, we cut them. If it's missing one that could cost you thousands at claim time, we add it before you sign.
We're also from here, and that matters more than people give it credit for.
A home in Prairie Village isn't underwritten the same way as a home in the Northland. Hail exposure, roof age trends, which zip codes are getting reinspected this year, which carriers are still writing new homeowners in Kansas and which ones are quietly pulling back. That's the stuff that decides whether your renewal doubles next spring or holds steady.
Same goes for business. Writing a policy for a roofing contractor in Olathe is a different conversation than writing one for a logistics outfit off I-35 or a dental practice in Leawood. Different carriers, different appetites, different endorsements that actually matter for the work. A national call center can't tell you any of that.
None of that is glamorous work. It's reading the fine print, asking real questions about your house, your business, and your family, and translating what we find into a recommendation that holds up at claim time.
If you're shopping, or just want a second set of eyes on what you already have, reach out.
No pressure, no pitch.

How we work
Five things we won't compromise on.
Stated plainly so you can hold us to them.
01
We'll show you the fine print, not just the price.
Every quote we put in front of you comes with a plain-English breakdown of what's covered, what isn't, and which endorsements are doing real work versus padding the premium. You should never sign something you don't understand.
02
If a carrier stops treating you right, we move you.
Loyalty is to you, not to the carrier on your declarations page. Slow claims, unjustified rate hikes: those are our problem to solve, and we solve them by remarketing your policy, not by making excuses for someone else's behavior.
03
We'll tell you when you don't need us.
If your current policy is well-built and priced fairly, we'll say so. If there's a carrier or program out there that fits you better than anything on our shelf, we'll point you to it. The goal is the right policy, not our policy.
04
We answer the phone.
Not a call center. Not a 1-800 number. Not a portal that loops you back to a portal. When something goes wrong, or you just have a question, you get a real person who knows your file.
05
We do the homework before we make the recommendation.
Every policy we write starts with actual questions about your house, your business, and your family. No template quotes. No assumptions. If we don't know enough to advise you well, we ask until we do.
